Sayuri Spirit of the Forest

It's taken a month, but I'm finally getting some home decorating projects done at my new house. I'm most excited about my room getting painted. I've been having in a pretty bare room for the past month and I just want to unload everything. (Also have a nail polish rack I've been itching to put up. I'm so excited!) Got one coat on tonight and my parents and I will paint the second tomorrow.

For this weekend, I wanted to go simple. I felt like wearing a brown this weekend so I didn't have a hard time picking what to wear. One look in a melmer drawer and I fished out Sayuri Nail Lacquer Spirit of the Forest.

Nvr Enuff Champions of Justice Collection (+ Mary's Amy Rose) swatches and reviews

Greetings, y'all! Polish hauls are always exciting, but I was particularly stoked for this haul to arrive in my mailbox. I'm a sucker for Sailor Moon merchandise. Ah sucker Ah tell ya. Polish is certainly not exempted from that. I should probably add a tag for Sailor Moon since I'm sure I'll have a lot of Sailor Moon nail stuff on this blog. (Update: 'tis done.)

Anyway, Nvr Enuff released their own Sailor Moon inspired collection back in July and I finally managed to buy the entire collection. It is a collection of six polishes inspired by the inner senshi/Sailor Scouts and Tuxedo Mask. It is also more focused on the DiC/Cloverway dubs that owner Lynnae and I grew up with. Along with these, I'll be including the Mary's Monthly for September, a Sonic inspired polish that could easily double as a polish for Sailor Chibi/Mini Moon!

All swatches include glossy top coat and a matte accent nail.

Cupcake Polish Double Chocolate Cupcake

This time I'm not posting nail art. Still got a lot of art I want to do, don't get me wrong. Heck, I nearly did a nail art look with today's polish as the base polish. Here's the thing, though- I couldn't do it. Not until I wore it on its own. Not until I saw this in the sun on its own.

Ooh, that was worth the wait.

Chikorita Nails for Community Day

Today's the Autumn Equinox in the northern hemisphere, which means that Fall is officially here! Now it just needs to get colder...

Anyone play Pokemon Go? Every month the game hosts a "Community Day" around a certain pokemon which includes all sorts of bonuses from increased shiny drop rates to exclusive moves. This month's Community Day is for Chikorita. Gen II is my favorite game wise, and Chikorita was my starter in both Silver and Crystal. It was only natural that I wanted to do a mani for it.

Femme Friday: Aquatic

Anyone a September baby? My mother is one. The September birthstone is the blue sapphire, and that's all I can think of as I gaze upon our latest Femme Fatale spotlight, Aquatic.

Scottie Stamping

This mani is the result of nostalgia and alma mater pride. As I mention in my about me page, I attended a women's college. Its name is Agnes Scott College, and its mascot is appropriately (and adorably) the Scottish Terrier.

Her name is Irvine, BTW.
I have a lot of great memories about college and miss it a lot. Occasionally I'll see something that reminds me of it. So when I saw the Scottie design on this dog themed plate that Bundle Monster had awhile ago, I had to have it. Today's design was already in my head.

OPI Peru Sally Beauty Exclusives Swatches and Reviews

Greetings, y'all! I managed to grab all three of the Sally Beauty Supply exclusives for OPI's Fall Peru collection. It took a couple minutes of finding these because my nearest Sally's did not have a collection display and just put them in with the core collection OPIs. But found them I did. Stay tuned at the end for comparisons!

Topic Tuesdays: Favorite Color Combos

Today is the second day of the work week. Time for Topic Tuesdays on Instagram to post another nail polish related prompt. This week is about our favorite color combos.

Team Rocket Nails

I figured that since I recently did a Pokemon mani, why not do another? Last time was Pikachu and pokeballs. This time is inspired by everyone's favorite band of wannabe Pika-nappers, Team Rocket!

Pokemon Nail Art ft OPI Hello Kitty polishes

Still on that nail art kick. I've always wanted to do a Pokemon mani or two, and finally got around to doing one this weekend.

Femme Friday: Seeing Your Soul

Happy Friday! It's time for me to spotlight another Femme Fatale polish again! Since I profiled one of my absolute favorites from the brand a couple weeks ago, I figured that I focus on one of my least favorites this time. This rare dud is known as Seeing Your Soul.

Stamping Mani: Wheat ft KBShimmer You Dew You over Virago Varnish Bloody Mary

I'm on a nail art kick right now. I just want to do all the nail stamping and freehand. Of course, with my luck most of my ideas are more appropriate for October. However, today I have the first fall mani I've done this year. It's a tweak of a mani I did last fall.

Nail Art Ft Cirque Colors Socialite and Crystal Tokyo

I follow color seasons for the most part. I'm currently in a transitional period where now that it's September, I want to do more autumn based manis now, but it's warm enough that I still want to do summery ones. For my first mani of the week, I decided to wear my untried Cirque Colors Socialite since it's a bright neon pink. It's cute, but felt too plain. It was super late in the evening when I painted my nails and I wasn't up to stamping or gradients. (That, or the design ideas I had were more appropriate for Valentine's Day.) That's when glitter toppers are your friend. It's definitely the easiest way to "bling up" a mani. Swipe and done. I decided to see what Crystal Tokyo, also from Cirque, looked like over it.

OPI Peru ULTA Exclusives swatches and reviews

Greetings, y'all! Today I have all three of OPI's Ulta exclusives for its Fall 2018 Peru collection.

(BTW, if you'd like to read my reviews on the Sally exclusives for this collection, click here.)

Like others online I was originally unimpressed with the Peru collection. The colors didn't gravitate towards me. Too many similar looking nudes, or the few colors it did have appeared too pastel for a fall collection. It has grown on me over time, with these three were particularly attractive to me. They are very "fall."

Formula was the same for all three; it is the standard OPI creme that one expects. All three only required two easy coats. I used matte top coat on my ring finger to show how they are matte.

China Glaze DV8

There was much buzz in the polish world when it was discovered that the rumor was true- China Glaze really was re-releasing their OMG collection! For the ten year anniversary of the famous holographic collection, China Glaze repromoted six polishes from it. Since I was not into nail polish back in 2008, I was glad for this "second chance" since the older polishes go for a lot on eBay. I've managed to get most of the collection so far, including today's DV8.

The holo caps are a great touch!

Cupcake Polish Peachy Keen

Greetings, y'all! Cupcake Polish does a special one-shot polish trio every month. Today I'm wearing a color from a past trio called Peachy Keen.

Wax Empties, August 2018 edition

I intend to use this blog primarily for nail polish. However, I am also a fan of wax melts. Like indie polish it can be difficult to find reviews or discussion of vendor wax scents online outside of Facebook groups. Every month on my Instagram I show my wax empties and I figured that I'd do mini reviews of the scents I used up last month. Despite what the pictures show I'll go by vendor in alphabetical order.

Every Polish I Hauled from August's Polish Pickup

Greetings, y'all! Today I have my haul from the August 2018 edition of Polish Pickup.

For those that don't know what Polish Pickup is, it is like a Facebook custom group and an indie box fused together, only better. Every first weekend of the month, a bunch of nail polish makers craft polish and nail care items around a theme voted on in advance by group members and post them for preorder on the Polish Pickup site. Some items are capped, others not. But you can buy whatever you want as long as the items are up for grabs. There's $3 combined (domestic) shipping too!

This month's theme was on musicals. I'm not a huge fan of theater musicals but I do enjoy Disney movies. August is my birthday month so I was particularly excited to see what came up for sale. I can never buy everything I want (who can?), but I got a good bit on my wish list.

Colors by Llarowe Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

And it's the start of September! I know I have Earth, Wind, and Fire in my head now. It's also time for DragonCon, which I'll be attending today while wearing Sailor Moon themed clothing. To compliment my leggings I'm wearing Colors by Llarowe's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
