I'm in my 30s and I lived in north Georgia all my life until I moved to Finland in 2023. I attended a women's college in metro Atlanta, graduating with a bachelor's in women's studies. I intend to one day return to college to get my masters in epidemiology.
My main hobby growing up was reading and writing anime and cartoon fanfiction. Seriously, I even did a couple research papers on the subject in school. The obsession was strong with this one. If I wasn't writing about fanfiction, then I was writing about pandas. I'm still interested in it but have waned writing wise the past couple years.
I painted my nails as a kid but it wasn't until college that I seriously got into nail polish. My depression and anxiety peaked junior year. I've always loved color and figured that painting my nails pretty colors may help alleviate stress. While browsing polish online, I happened to find a collection of Sailor Moon themed polishes on Etsy. I bought what I could afford to get from what the store offered as a Christmas gift to myself. Didn't know it then, but those were my very first indies.
I had to go back home for the holidays before they arrived, however, so I tided over my wait with a couple Wet n Wild polishes from the drugstore. One I particularly recall was a pearly pink called Lavender Pearlescent. I loved the look of painted nails on me. Finally, some joy! I bought more Wet n Wilds when a sale happened, loved those on me, and loved the glittery indies once I arrived back at college. An obsession was born. I've almost always had painted nails since.
Regarding polish, my favorite colors to wear are reds, blues, and oranges. My favorite finishes are holo (scattered and linear), glitter, and shimmers. I also enjoy a simple creme. While I enjoy multichromes, thermals, and magnetics, I rarely wear or purchase them. Conversely, I tend to avoid foils and metallics due to brushstrokes, and frosts because I dislike how they look on me.
