Nail Polish Tracker Blanket Project: January 2025 Update

(all items purchased)

Remember that manicure tracking crochet blanket that I began in January? Here is the first month update! Click the spoiler to see what it looks like now, and what polishes the colors represent!

31 days later, this is how it looks before the month divider row!

I wore a total of seven manicures this month (one carried over from December plus six fresh ones).

The Manis

The black stripe represents Kathleen and Co Glow So Brite, a Polish Pickup exclusive inspired by the game Lite Brite

The first red stripe is for Fancy Gloss Troll Vault, a tan to red thermal that I designated as such due to the bottle color being the red cold state. A Polish Pickup exclusive inspired by Troll dolls.

After that was a gray stripe for Bee's Knees Ghost or Furby, a Polish Pickup exclusive inspired by vintage Furbies.

Following that was blue for Wildflower Poochi, yet another Polish Pickup exclusive from the same box as the previous four, inspired by the 90s robot dog toy Poo-Chi.

Second red stripe represents KBShimmer Mull It Over, which came from their most recent winter collection.

The white stripe is Nail Kind Cloud Bunny, a white creme, topped with the iridescent shimmer topper Ethereal Silver Crystal from the original In the Name of the Moon collection.

Finally, the third and last red stripe for January was for a Lunar New Year mani I did with Cirque Colors Lucky Jelly as a base. I topped it with a dry brush mani of Mavala Royal Gold, a shimmery metallic gold.

Current Thoughts, Lessons, and other Reflections

First off, I love my red polish. Was predicting a lot of red in this blanket. So far I have been correct. Lovely seeing how often it pops up.

I started this blanket with 250 chains. In retrospect I should've increased it to at least 280, or 300 max. It covers me (and my IKEA desk) just fine, luckily. More concerned with how it will look after the length. With a rough estimate of 7 inches per month, the final blanket will be just over 215 cm (about 7 feet) in length, before any edging or borderwork if I choose it. I do not regret my weight of yarn that I chose, or the yarn type, although I wonder if

I decided to also divide each month with a single white moss stitch row to keep it more consistent looking. Loving how moss stitch works up, save for that I am still working on my color changing. I also struggled with the first row, but I'm already getting better with my tension and think it will improve with practice.

Despite my lack of experience and the kinks that I have to deal with because of it, I am really enjoying this project. Already enjoying how my blanket is building up after every session.

Stay tuned for February's followup!
