Sayuri Linen and Lace

You know how people will joke about having 500 channels but nothing to watch? Sometimes it feels that way with polish. You got 500 polishes at your fingertips but nothing to wear. Whomp whomp.

I knew I wanted to wear something, but wasn't sure what that something could be. Normally I have a "queue" of sorts of polishes I want to wear. I took out the next polish I thought of putting on, however, and just felt "meh." It wasn't that I thought that it was boring. I just didn't want to wear it "now."

It didn't help that I'm currently suffering from a case of overstimulation. I'm autistic and it occasionally seems like every little thing is too much for my senses. It's like I'm a cat with its fur sticking up in its back. Every touch, every sound, every touch, sight, smell- amplified. Amplified to the point of pain. Normally I've gone semi nose-blind to polish's pungent smell but last night I could smell it very well.

Eventually, my sensations of goosebumps and sore areas that were barely brushed reduced just enough for me to do a quick mani. I decided to do a palette cleanser. And that palette cleanser? It had to be a neutral. And that neutral? It had to be Sayuri Linen and Lace.

Linen and Lace is a "pink toned beige with a golden shift and soft linear holo." It was a Hella Holo Customs exclusive back in 2017.

I vividly recall when I got this polish because of a little brouhaha I had in getting it. I had moved since my previous HHC site order and forgot to update my address. So my pretties went to my previous address instead of my current. I was not only kicking myself for being so dumb but also worried about never getting them redirected to the correct residence. I was especially worried that I had lost this. I had other polishes, Sayuri included, that I was excited to finally get and wear, but strangely this grabbed my attention the most. Maybe because it was a linear holo nude? Maybe because I had to cut my nails completely down to the nubs and I wanted something "fresh" like a nude? Packages get lost all the time. Last thing I wanted was to replace the order with ISOs. Luckily my package was "returned to sender"ed back to HHC headquarters and sent to me. Took a couple extra weeks, but hey. Dontcha just love happy endings?

Speaking of happy, this cheers me up. It's a soft, delicate shade much like how lace is delicate material. The shift is the real star of the show here. The linear holo is present, but as the description says, it's "soft." It's more a background element. I'm completely fine with that here.

If I could get away with wearing this at an office job, I totally would. One coat provides a sheer wash of color on your nails that brings out the golden shift more. I prefer to wear it in two coats. It applies effortlessly in both coats. Can't get much better than that.

Hopefully I better manage sensation tomorrow morning. Until then, I appreciate that I have this neutral on my nails. It was worth the struggle.

Hella Holo Customs revamped itself earlier this year as Hella Handmade Creations. Polishes are available for preorder in the middle of every month. You can join its Facebook groups here and here. Its shop website is here.

  1. Lovely swatches of a fantastic nude! When I can't pick a polish, i use a random number generator (seriously) to select one from me from off my spreadsheet.

    1. That's cool! It's interesting to know how other people choose between their polishes. Usually if I don't have the queue then I'll either go by feeling or check the weather forecast (gotta accentuate the holos!)

  2. Love this one! I actually just found this in a destash so I am really happy about that, I didn't have the money to buy all of the Sayuri HHCs when they came out so I have been slowly picking them up in destashes. :) Thanks for sharing!

    1. I know what you mean. I have limited funds so I usually have to choose whether to wait or not. Linen and Lace is personally one of my favorite Sayuri HHCs (and HHCs in general). If I worked in an office I'd definitely take advantage of "neutrals with a twist" if I could get away with it.
